“Feral Love” Music Video by Chelsea Wolfe

cwkofer1Fatalist? Romantic? Masochist? All of the above? Sacramento native Chelsea Wolfe never asked anyone to truly understand her, but her music exudes such beautiful, raw emotions it’s difficult not to try. Her fourth LP, Pain Is Beauty (Sargent House), is a self-described “love letter to nature” and its title aptly captures the bleak yet stirring ambience of the calm before a desert thunderstorm via dark synths, digi beats, and a hypnotic voice. Wollfe best describes its gloomy and enduring theme by stating:

“Love is not always easy. Tormented love is something I understand more than society’s skewed idea of what love should be. Love is indelible, severe, earnest, merciful.”

The music video for her latest single “Feral Love” is also an excerpt of the nonlinear feature film Lone which Wolfe and director Mark Pellington collaborated on and will be released on Tuesday, April 1st. Its sporadic and invoking images solidify her reputation as an authentic auteur:

Wolfe also recently appeared on the debut episode of KCET‘s Studio A:
