“BLU” by verre

Verre_Photoshoot_269verre (French for “glass”) is a coed quintet who all grew up together in Moorpark. Their forthcoming debut EP was produced by Danny Score (Jez Dior) and will include their latest leaked track “BLU” which builds off Alice Day’s lush vox over infectious beats into a ripping blast of edgy, electro-fueled production.

verre will perform at the Troubadour on September 9th and the Constellation Room on September 10th.

“Wait” by TULIPS (Premiere)

tulips_presspic2It’s way too easy to have a crush on Echo Park‘s TÜLIPS. Their radiant, buoyant vibe via punk elements is so catchy that it’s downright adorable. Angie Bloom (vox, guitar, bass) and Taleen Kali (vox, guitar, bass) founded the band after blending their love of “goth shoegaze” and “pop-riot sensibilities” and soon became a trio by recruiting drummer Travis Barnes. Their forthcoming debut LP, Doom & Bloom, was mixed by Brad Laner (of MEDICINE) and features the harmony rawker “Wait” which was just released as a “cassingle” via Love You Just Recs:

TÜLIPS‘ “cassingle” release show is on August 29th at pehrspace.

And here’s their West Coast tour dates.

“Full Of Holes” by Mean Dream

Mean-Dream-band-promoMean Dream dropped their self-titled debut EP on limited edition cassette today (through bitchin’ label Summer Bummer Records) with songs that slide between dreamy shoegaze and gloomy post-punk –or as they describe “from soothing lullabies to nightmarish dirges.” And despite their lo-fi facade these tracks beg to be blasted in an arena via a stentorian wave of fuzz. Here’s their hasty opening track “Full Of Holes”:

Mean Dream‘s tape release show is tonight (Tuesday, August 26th) at The Satellite.

“Just Like Dreaming” by Javier Dunn

3websizeFor almost a decade, Javier Dunn was Sara Bareilles‘ loyal guitarist –but now he’s only focused on himself. With four EPs and two full-lengths already under his belt, Dunn is currently working on his next album with producer Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet, Maroon 5). His latest leaked track, “Just Like Dreaming,” is an aptly titled wave of glistening synths and steady digi-beats that carry his smooth vox throughout the electro pop ballad:
