“Good Gradez” by Spaceships

SpaceshipsSpaceships recently leaked the opening track, “Good Gradez,” off their forthcoming self-titled EP being released via New Professor Music on November 4th. Perhaps due to being produced by Greg Katz (of LA Font), the track is less signature dreamy lo-fi and more rawking garage pop, but its energetic barrage would still make Bratmobile proud.

Spaceships‘ EP release show is tonight (October 30th) at Melody Lounge.

“Canyon Bridge” Acoustic Live Video by Kiven (Premiere)

testThis past year, Kiven has emerged as an indie rock powerhouse and is destined for success on par with peers Bad Suns and Night Riots. Their self-titled debut LP features a barrage of ferocious soars but also focuses on intricate melodics such as the final track “Canyon Bridge”:

And here’s an acoustic live video of the song which was filmed in drummer Jake Reed’s living room and features a stirring performance by violinist Nora Francesca Germain.

“Skulls” by Sumeau (Cover)

Sumeau - Live BlurJust in time for Halloween, Sumeau decided to cover “Skulls” by The Misfits. And of course the coed duo transformed the song’s original ghoul punk angst into hasty dream pop with experimental effects:

Sumeau will perform at 9 on Vine on November 18th.

“Electric Paws” by Brooklyn Pets

BrooklynPetsCloseUpBrooklyn Pets is the guitar/drum duo of James Poulos and Mark Reback who conjure songs out of a shack in Highland Park. Their forthcoming debut EP, MEGA IDIOT, was produced by Andy Freeman and congruently channels a fuzz heavy throwback to mid-90’s melodic alt-rock (Spacehog, The Smashing Pumpkins) –but they prefer to label themselves as “spacegaze.” Here’s their additive nostalgic single “Electric Paws”:

Brooklyn Pets‘ EP release show will be at Ham & Eggs Tavern on November 17th.

“Freak” by Olivver

Olivver 011Olivver returns by leaking the title track off his forthcoming EP Freak. With airy synths, gentle guitars, and digital drums the song is a nostalgic throwback to optimistic outro tracks from ’80s teen movies.
