“Stockholm” by Atlas Genius

AG_3339_FinalIt seems as if many indie rock acts have openly embraced the pure pop potential of a synth-aided, danceable tempo, but very few deliver epic hooks as consistently as Atlas Genius. The brother duo originally hails from Adelaide, but now calls Los Angeles home. Their latest leaked single, “Stockholm,” (off their sophomore album, Inanimate Objects, due August 28th via Warner Bros. Records) is a solid hit with a steady, heavy-hitting pace which breaks into a soar.

“Paid a ransom for a ghost.”

“I Know You Still Care” by Pr0files

pr0files_chillenPr0files returns by leaking another track off their debut album, Jurassic Technologie, due in October via STRAIGHT A RECORDS. The single, “I Know You Still Care,” is a darkly fierce, sexy sensation as if neo-disco and synth-pop challenged each other to a dance-off.

“Smell the summer in my hair.”

“Most Of Me” by sleepercub

33360003As sleepercub, David Richmond and Angelique Ngo set out to capture the tranquil ambience of when the dawn sun seeps through the thick coastal fog of California. The Ventura-based couple succeeded when they recently released their aptly-titled debut EP, EP 1, which was conjured with “an array of analog and digital tools” and Warren Hildebrand (of Foxes in Fiction) as producer. Here’s the sedated, dream-pop track “Most Of Me.”

“You are most of me.”

sleepercub‘s EP release party is on July 25th at Bombay’s.

“Vivre Sa Vie” by ghostporn (Premiere)

gp picAs ghostporn, Kenny Carranza and Tasia Trevino might have the dopest band moniker ever. The Little Armenia denizens began the project on a dare and have since evolved the act from “raw, acoustic beginnings” into “lush, emotional [indie] rock.” Their moody, debut EP, Dream Songs, was recorded by Joel Jerome and released via Lolipop Records late last year, but the couple has already returned by leaking the psychedelic, fuzz single “Vivre Sa Vie.”

“My chest caved in, but I did not complain.”

ghostporn will perform tomorrow (7-18) at Non Plus Ultra.

“Girls Your Age” by Transviolet

IMG_1788Transviolet is a group of kids living in The Valley who transplanted from NYC and just leaked their debut single “Girls Your Age.” The track opens with sharp scat aiding a breathy voice with a digital echo before crescendoing into epic pop production. The result is mesmerizing, arresting, and outright stellar.

“I’ve got a renegade heart.”

“Kingfisher” by PHOX (Nightly Remix)

Nightly Press2When Alex Pfender isn’t performing as one half of yOya, he’s making “moonlight bike ride music” as Nightly. And after a recent, brief tour with indie folk rock act PHOX, he decided to give their single “Kingfisher” an IDM remix. The result is as adorably arresting as his pet dog Henry.

Their first leaked single, “(Hard Drugs) Fake Love,” is an epic, solid testament of what’s to come.

And here’s the song’s lyric video:
